Faith & festival calendar
One verified calendar — August 2026 through January 2028 — of Toronto’s faith, festival, cultural and civic community moments: when a community gathering is likely to welcome a visitor, and just as important, when to stay quiet.
Where a tradition’s own norms make an ask inappropriate — a fast, a day of atonement, a period of mourning — this calendar says so under AVOID, and that guidance is as much the point as the dates themselves. Community moments the calendar defers entirely to that community’s own leadership — Indigenous-designated days above all — are marked as such rather than pointed at a generic tool.
A note on the far half of this calendar: the August 2026 – January 2027 span was verified against primary and community sources throughout. The February 2027 – January 2028 span is necessarily calculated further out — lunar and movable dates a year or more ahead carry slightly wider uncertainty (typically ±1 day, occasionally ±1 week for dates still governed by moon-sighting rather than astronomical calculation) than the near-term months. Re-confirm anything in the 2027–28 span within a few weeks of using it, the same rule that applies to any movable date.
How to read the tables
Date(s) are Gregorian, 2026 unless marked otherwise; movable/lunar dates carry a source and are worth a fresh check close to the day, since local moon-sighting can shift Islamic/lunar observances by a day. Fits well with names a free kit that suits the kind of gathering involved, plus a plain read of how big or how personal a moment it tends to be — never a headcount claim. Timing guidance is the approach window, and any AVOID. Source links the primary or community reference used.
