v0.1 · 2026-07-18 · one of this library's own project records · Status: PROPOSED. Written against workshop/SELF_EVALUATION_2026-07-18.md gap 5 (source bench Euro-American heavy) and the framework's own coverage claim (§0). Framework: PERMACULTURE_3_FRAMEWORK_2026-07-18.md. The discipline here is already modeled once, narrowly, in principles/one of this library's internal records's Lineage section ("support, never appropriate"); this document generalizes that discipline to the whole canon and proposes it as standing policy.

1 · The principle: universal patterns, many voices

Design grammar read off nature — dissipative structures, closed loops, mycelial redistribution, panarchy — is genuinely universal because it is nature's, not any one people's. What does not follow is that one tradition's vocabulary for these patterns is the literal description and every other tradition's is a colorful translation of it. Ostrom's eight design principles are not the ur-text that hima and the zanjeras happen to also express; they are one rigorous articulation among several independently-arrived-at ones. The book must show the pattern spoken in many voices, not spoken once and subtitled. Discipline:

Brief: this register is already the framework's dominant bench (Ostrom, Meadows, Alexander, Taleb, Brand). Oikeiôsis (Stoic — Hierocles' concentric circles, via Stobaeus) — moral concern begins at self and widens outward (household, community, humanity, cosmos), the practice being to draw outer circles inward → a structural precursor to §1b's perspective stack and → P35's relational self, from 2nd-century Stoic ethics — naming the Western bench as one tradition among the others, not the frame the others translate into.

4 · What this changes in the work

Falsification-roster candidates (routed to falsification/PROTOCOL_2026-07-18.md's existing pairs, not a new track):

Book sidebars (illustrative, pattern-level, not falsification-load-bearing): fengshui, wu wei/ziran, ren/zhengming/he er bu tong, mottainai, satoyama, ayni/minka, ubuntu and its cognates, sankofa, harambee, dharma/aparigraha/ahimsa/satya, mizan/khalifa, subsidiarity, Sabbath, oikeiôsis, buen vivir — each a T1–T2 rendering-ladder candidate: name, one-sentence honest gloss, principle echoed, the standing "go to your own tradition" footer from §3.

What sharpens a principle, not just illustrates it:
