What this project is

uniteTOlove.ca is one Toronto neighbour’s invitation to a conversation, not a campaign. It asks the city to unite around four things: a floor under everyone, so no one falls further than a life can recover from; a commons around everything we share, owned by the public and walled against capture; a shared civic practice — things done together, weekly, that make a city a city; and receipts on all of it, so every claim is checkable and every promise carries its own test, in public. There is nothing to join and nothing for sale. Nothing on the site asks anyone to vote for anyone. In practice, that takes the shape of a public research library on Toronto civic issues, published in the open with its sources attached.

Who writes it — and why anonymously

Every page is signed The Unknown Soldier. That’s deliberate, and the reasoning is public, not a dodge: the moment a name attaches to an argument, readers start judging the name instead of the work — where they went to school, what box they fit, what to dismiss before it’s even read. Removing the name removes that shortcut and leaves only the work to judge. There’s a second reason, and it’s the real one: an unnamed author can be anyone, including the reader. Checking a claim, joining a project, correcting a mistake — that’s what “being” the Unknown Soldier means, and it was never meant to be one person’s byline. The author has said the name will come off eventually, and that nothing about the work will need to change when it does, because it was written to be judged without it. How to verify us

Don’t take our word for it — that’s the point. Every load-bearing claim on this site is meant to trace to a real, checkable source, and pages carry one of a small set of honest status words: sealed (independently checked against original sources, zero unresolved disagreements), in verification (drafted against sources, being checked now, with any specific open item disclosed rather than smoothed over), draft (written, not yet checked), or proposed / coming (scoped, not yet built). The wordmark & assets

The mark is the wordmark itself — “uniteTOlove”, pronounced “unite T–O love” — available as an SVG for light and dark backgrounds:

The O of TO is deliberately swappable — colour it, stamp it, put your own drawing in it. Earlier versions of the mark remain valid wherever they are already printed.

There is no other logo, photo, or headshot to request — there is no face attached to this project by design (see “Who writes it,” above).

We don’t endorse or favour any candidate, party, or side. Every resource on this site — backgrounders, the citizen question bank, the candidate guide — is offered to every candidate and every voter on identical terms, regardless of who wins. No donations are asked for anywhere on this site, and none are accepted. Nothing here asks you to vote for anyone.
