HARVEST

Toronto's food system runs through a wholesale market most residents have never heard of, a grocery sector a handful of big chains control, and restaurant/hospitality jobs tied to it.

HARVEST is a research program built to study that whole system honestly and design real fixes without pretending it's simple. Two flagship ideas have come out of the work so far: the Food Commons, a plan for a resident-owned buying club to buy produce closer to wholesale prices, and Sprout, a toolkit for building intentional rural communities plus a specific, tightly caveated proposal for a small ecovillage for homeless and low-income Torontonians who genuinely choose it. Both are still design documents, not decisions.

This program has not been ratified. Nothing here is a promise, and no real resident has been contacted about any part of it.
